MESS stands for "Multi
Emulator Super System", and when you see the list
of supported consoles and computers, you'll know why . . .
this bad boy is the king of multi-console,
doing genesis, nes, gameboy, sms, PC-engine,
and a million old computer systems like
the c64 and even Amiga . . like MAME, Mess
has a large dev team that contribute drivers for individual
systems, and like MAME, Mess
also follows a beta / release cycle; usually, Mess
is in step or not far behind from the *same* release of MAME
. . There are DOS,
MAC, and UNIX ports, but in each case, you'll
need to track down the system roms
for most of the emulated consoles / computers . . MESS
packs a ton of bang for the buck (well, it's free but
you get the idea) and is a project whose sheer
ambition and progress are astounding . . . |
