OverClocked : Emulators :
Neo-Geo

The NEOGEO is god . . . it is god that rules down on all . . . do not question it, do not disobey it, for it is omnipotent . . SNK's arcade hardware (which was converted for home use) is STILL going strong after all these years, with games like Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Metal Slug 3 . . . The neogeo emulation scene is almost like a microcosm within the emulation community, with notable figures and shady behind-the-scenes dealings. . . .
Emulation really picked up when sound was finally accomplished in MAME, after which everyone realized that almost all the dumps were bad and had corrupt sound boards . . remember THAT?? It was eventually sorted out, and NeoRageX came along and gave everyone speed, an awesome GUI, sidewinder support and eagle / interpolation / triple buffer video modes . . . the home system itself was originally several hundred dollars, with cartridges over $100 as well. For those with mucho moola, that was cool, but many appreciated the release of the NeoGeo CD system, which loaded games off considerably cheaper discs. Though the great majority of neogeo games ARE fighters, there are some great shooters (Blazing Star, Pulstar) and the magnificent Metal Slug games, as well as a variety of other titles . . NeoRageX is one of our very favorite emus, and we wholeheartedly recommend checking it out . . .

Emulators

Ohhh yeaahhhhh . . . big poppa! One of OC's favorite emulators, NeoRageX is easy to use, works with tons of games (even the NEW ones) and has badass interpolation and eagle effects as well as great sound, an awesome GUI, and even a "shotfactory" for organizing screenshots . . . GET IT!!!

Currently the only emu out there that does Neo-Geo CD emulation, which is good, as certain games have only been released in this format or are hard to find in MVS (SSRpg, Ironclad) . . a bit tricky to get working, but worth it if you do . . .
DOS
MAME, and most variations thereof, have GREAT support for neogeo games, though not seemingly as fast or convenient as NeoRagX, they are certainly a great alternative . . the MAME homepage, and especially MAMEWORLD have info on these emulators.

Among all the original Neogeo's many cool features, a low price was not included^^ This is our modified take on the "Bigger, Badder" ad campaign SNK used to market it . .
